Range Rules

  1. The Range Officer is the absolue authority on the range and must be obeyed at all times.
  2. No firearms are allowed in the clubhouse.
  3. Firearms must be unloaded, pointed in a safe direction with the action open and the magazine removed (if possible) under the following circumstances:
    • Under "time out" (i.e. the green light is on)
    • Whenever anyone is down range
    • When a firearms is left unattended
    • When carrying firearms on club property
    • All restricted and prohibited handguns must only be unboxed and reboxed at the benches on the firing line
  4. Ranger officer's permission is required before firing commences.
  5. Keep behind the wooden line from the shooting bench during "time out".  Do not approach the shooting bench for any reason.
  6. Members are responsible for the conduct of guests and family members.  Guests are required to share the bench with the member while using the facilities.
  7. Entry to the range must be through authorized entry points.
  8. When loaded or being loaded and unloaded, the muzzle of the firearm must not be raised above the level of the backstop.
  9. Misfires, malfunctions, etc. must be brought to the attention of the Ranger Officer immediately.
  10. Unsafe behavious with firearms and ammunition will not be tolerated.
  11. All members and guests must "sign in" at the clubhouse before coming to the firing line.
  12. Cross firing from 50 yard benches is not allowed to the 100 or 25 yard ranges.
  13. Shotgun slugs only are allowed on the rifle ranges.  No shot can be discharged at the target stands.
  14. The call of "CEASEFIRE" indicates and emergency.  Immediately make your firearm safe (unloaded, action open and magazine removed (if possible)) and step behind the wooden line from the bench.  Do not approach the bench for any reason.  Muzzle loading firearms must be retained in the shooter's control, pointed at the ground, finger removed from the trigger area.  Shooting may not be resumed without the express permission of the Range Officer.  Anyone recognizing an unsafe condition may call a "CEASEFIRE".

Failure to comply with the OFHC range rules may result in the supension of your membership.
